Rosemary

We have only one bush left from a rosemary hedge that got too unruly and had to be restrained from overwhelming everything round it. This year it has fewer flowers than usual, though I don't know why. Nonetheless, it's very pretty, and is another favourite with the bees. Perhaps it's still a bit early, although usually it's in fuller flower by now I think. Still, it's the smell more than anything else that recommends it. On a hot summer's day there's nothing like pulling a stalk of it through your hand and releasing the unmistakable, slightly antiseptic, fragrance in the leaves.
