Bodmin
A rather lovely day, in and out of the hail! We drove across Bodmin Moor, stopping for lunch at Jamaica Inn (how could we not?) where I talked to a barmaid called April who was on duty the night of the snow this winter. She worked a 29 hour shift, but said it was good fun. Apparently their business is already up with so many people wanting to see where it all happened.
Neither Sis or I now Bodmin as well as the other two moors. It's a bit further south from where our family lived. I was astonished though, just how many interesting remains are to be seen. This is a Celtic cross (obviously), unmarked on driving maps but just the other side of the road from the neolithic Hurlers stone circles. There are three circles grouped together, but we only saw one - it was hailing. (Pic of that one in Extras). We also stumbled across King Doniat's stone (in Extras). They say King Doniart was the last king of Cornwall.
Additionally, there were several roofless engine houses left by the old mining industry. All very Poldark and definitely a place to go back to.
xx
