Farewell Spit
Torrential rain in the night gave way to a warm and sunny morning. We wandered down to the local watering hole ( no alcohol involved!) Then piled in the car and headed off to Farewell Spit- do look on the map, it's a remarkable and enormous beach at the very top of South Island. By this time thick mizzle had descended (way too much Irish weather going on) but astonishing none the less with dunes, weird rock formations and white sand. Lots of driftwood too, here artfully arranged. A cafe with a view, black swans and pukepo added to the excitement. Esme had a great day too. glass of wine, faijtas and a sunset finished the day. Oh, and Joe and I also managed a swim in the local pool.
