L'Ancresse Bay

A wet day with some sleet although there was a splash of sunshine today, just before I took my blip. This is L'Ancresse Bay at low tide. There were some long rolling waves sweeping into the bay today and as the wind was in the opposite direction there were plenty of 'white horses'.
You can see what a fine bay this would be for sailing into. The French word for anchors is ancres. I believe the name L'Ancresse meaning anchorage was given to the bay many centuries ago when a large fleet of ships took shelter here during a storm.
