Clifton Suspension Bridge
I left work early so we could head off to Bristol for our friend Mary's funeral. The service was lovely, and the eulogies hit the right note. The family, both Mary's husband and two grown up children, were magnificent. The music played as we filed out was 'Midnight train to Georgia' by Gladys Knight.
The wake was held at a city pub, and Google maps led us a merry dance, kept telling us to do a U turn, and so on. Once we ended up in a private housing estate, and another time we almost headed off towards Taunton. The bridge was snapped on one of our many passes. Funeral photos weren't appropriate.
Once at the pub, I kind of got wedged into a space, but we met up with Graham and Barbara, who are going to be our house guests for the next two nights. CleanSteve, my partner, has known Mary's Husband Pip.since the 1960s, and Graham too, so it was a real old-timers' get together. Sadly, not the first funeral of the gang members. It was good to put faces to names, and of course to remember Mary, the one of the kindest and definitely the funniest person we've ever known.
