Women in The Woods

Another excursion to the Sandhill Crane Refuge... Another immersion in those luscious Pines and Palmettos, with like-minded women. Curious women who take to the trail with gusto, but also stoop to peer at tiny purple violets, These push up bravely through russet needles to smile at those who pause. They are part of the reason we have come. It is also my cousin, Marjorie's birthday, and a yearly ritual that nobody wants to miss.

It is a large group this year, though half of us forge ahead quickly while the rest are lingerers. I am a lingerer. I am also the one with the camera.
