Vineyard covered

It is amazing how the birds still get to the grapes under the covers. The covers are checked and holes stitched and still a few birds get in for the feast.

The covers went on today and yesterday the paddock was totally green. Apparently the harvest takes place at the end of the month when the grapes are almost black. This is how the pinot gets it's great rich colour. I was taking the photo of the vineyard over the road and the owner came along and answered my questions.
