40 dead, that many again injured, some critically.

Whatever shred of innocence New Zealand clung to disintegrated today.

Many of the victims will be migrants and refugees. They came to New Zealand for a better life - just as our forebears did. This is their home and country and they should be safe.

I don't have the words for this.

Today's gratitude: For acts of bravery and compassion today. We need a lot more of both in the face of hatred, bigotry, fear, intolerance, racism, and extremism of all kinds.
