old & new

we are doing a quiz at our seniors Easter rendezvous this year on old and new Ashford.The gentleman who wrote the book Asford Then and Now, Mr Dix was kind enough to send me the old photos he had in his collection. So this very very windy afternoon I went for a walk round Ashford to take the modern day picture. here on the left you have the war memorial of today and on the right one form around 1930. It amazed us how much the town has changed in the 80 years or so. I really hope the folk have as much fun seeing and talking about the old town as I have in the research.
