Spindle Goldfinch

A very trusting pair of goldfinches have been in the area of our property that I call Butterfly Alley when Ollie dog and I have been taking our morning walk recently. I love their quiet warbling. I do hope they stay and breed. My image shows one of them perched on a spindle twig. The hard, straight wood of the spindle tree was used for spindles and skewers and today it is made into high quality artists' charcoal.
