Fake past?

When my uncle Pepe, my godfather,  died, he left me a showcase with some medals, swords and emblems that apparently had belonged to distinguished members of the family.
Nevertheless I think they are not genuine; what's more, I believe he had them made on purpose or he bought them in second hand or antique shops.
Now I have the showcase in my studio, I look at it from time to time: old pieces of metal, or perhaps plastic, covered in dust which don't mean anything to  me.
What can I do with this strange stuff?
