Spain - day 3 (Zaragoza)
Woke up at 6 to a beautiful sunrise but was too sleepy to take a photo! Did some washing which dried in the wind and sun in a couple of hours whilst I sat soaking up the rays and reading the book I bought last year in Stornoway about the loss of the Iolare - for those that don’t know the story - it’s telling the facts behind the sad loss of over 200 Lewis and Harris men on 1st January 1919 as they were returning home after the Great War- very moving.
We took the bus from the campsite into the old town of Zaragoza and despite Sunday closing (doh!) did at least manage a look round the basilica and took the lift up one of the towers and then had a wander round the streets. Going back again tomorrow too to see what else we can find.
Photo is of the bar in an Irish pub (well where else on St Patrick’s day) called the Blavk Horse Spamishand the hooks under the bar. Extra is of the main altar in the Basilica snapped quickly before the guard had to forbid me (on asking if photos were allowed he said notvreally but we could take one or two)!!
