Ilfracombe!

Had a nice morning with Mum.  She hadn't slept well, unfortunately, and we'd all been kept awake by some wild weather in the small hours - wind and hailstones - but it was nice and sunny later on and we popped out to the shop up the road for Mum to test out her wheelchair outdoors.  It went fine but don't think she'll be confident enough to do it on her own.

Had lunch with Mum and ran around doing a few quick jobs for her before we got packed up and set out on the road again.  Stopped off in Barnstaple for some petrol and provisions, then checked in to our holiday apartment (in the huge old converted Victorian hotel at the top of the hill in the centre of this shot).  Amazing views of the sea from every room - loving it!

We got settled in, then walked down to the chip shop to pick up an easy - and tasty - dinner.  Took this photo on the way back, and then the heavens opened.  Cue more wind and hail as we hurried back up the hill to 'home.'  Rather soggy and windswept once we got in!

Easy dinner and lazy evening - perfect start to the holiday!
