Lebanese Monastery

I am working here on the slopes of Mount Lebanon above Beirut. My hosts took me for a walk in the hills to visit this monastery. It was well worth the climb. The views through the cedar groves to the Mediterranean are breathtaking. Earlier we drove into the city to buy the week’s groceries. The hypermarket has become a truly global cloning exercise and in such places it is very hard to determine which continent we are on so similar have they become.
