Reflection and Solidarity
A gathering of people outside Kendal Parish Church to take part in a civic ceremony of reflection and solidarity with those in Christchurch. It included brief but heartfelt statements from the vicar, the leader of the Kendal Muslim community, Tim Farron, and songs led by Clare Mee. Singing the Maori blessing 'Te Ahora' meaning 'Love, hope, peace for us all' was particularly moving.
This afternoon I went to the last sessions of Words by the Water in Keswick. Adam Hart-Davis was very enthusiastic when talking about the 'Absurdly Ingenious World' of Heath Robinson, and Jean Moorcroft Wilson was very interesting about the life and poetry of Robert Graves.
