I have had an extremely low key weekend of catching up on a work deadline and generally clearing off those chunkier tasks that simply aren’t possible when there is so much other back and forth with colleagues during normal working hours. By this evening I achieved what I set out to do, but only because I holed myself up and didn’t attempt to socialise.
It was achieved but not without a great dose of procrastination. That feeling of not being motivated enough to just do something vs being stressed at the need to do it, is an extremely common sensation for me when it comes to large pieces of work. It could be the realisation that achieving all expectations is unreasonable or could point to some deeper flaws in my approach to work.
Whatever it is, not much beats that feeling of accomplishment on pressing ‘send’. At least I can now go to bed with that sentiment bookending the day.
Happy birthday dearest father.
