Rock, sand and surf
A colourful rock washed up by the surf onto the beach this morning.
Extra. A warning, some viewers might find the extra upsetting.
I have been going through some of the multitude of slides taken by a deceased friend and colleague. This Kodachrome, now over 50 years old, shows a game-keeper's gibbet, festooned with crows, on the local Slains sporting estate.
Such gibbets were once a common sight in the countryside but are now, thankfully, quite rare. Their purpose was to demonstrate to the estate owner that the game-keeper had been diligent in his work.
