Santiago

We finally arrived in Chile 24 hours after leaving Birmingham.  It was a good flight (apart from when I lost my glasses down the back of the seat which necessitated some dismantling of the said seat by one of the cabin crew)  and we are now in a small but nice hotel within walking distance of all the main attractions

We took the funicular up Cerro san Cristobal which is a high peak in the town with a large statue of the Virgin Mary on top.  The views were a little hazy. I would imagine that they are spectacular when the air  is clear.  (see extra)
