Lakeland Mist at Derwent Water
I had a pretty good trip up to the Lakes today. It gradually became rainier as I travelled north but there were no hold ups and the usual road work contraflows weren't too bad. I rang the campsite I had intended to stay at in the morning and found it had not yet reopened after the lake overflowed. The other one almost next door could take me OK so it was good to get that sorted before I left. The club does not take bookings for less than three nights at these popular sites so you either ring up on the day or take your chances.
I arrived shortly after five and decided the first thing I'd do was take a walk down to the landing stages as there was a lull in the rain. It even looked as if there might be a sunset so I was glad i made that choice. My blip is one of the launches, Lakeland Mist, moored up for the night with a fairly dramatic sky behind it.
I've been into town and had cumberland sausage and mash with a pint at the Wainright and I'm now cosy in the van. I wouldn't be surprised if it's an early night for me. I went off this morning leaving Marian feeling a bit poorly. She's been to the docs and they suspect she might have shingles and they've started her on retrovirals. She's not so sure now that it is that now. We'll have to see!
