Catholic commander

Many times my mom will stop herself mid-sentence when she knows she just said the wrong word, as in, "This hill is hot. No, not hot." I'll ask, "steep"? Sometimes I get it right.

Other times she takes off on a tangent and it's hard to hear, but what I do hear doesn't sound right. Catholic? Yes, she kept repeating the word catholic, and then said something about a man, "that catholic commander."
