Goddess from El Salvador
Back on November 2nd, Orquidia Violeta won a costume contest, and one of her prizes was a photo session with me. For many reasons, we had to postpone the session till today, and finally we had all the conditions--sunshine, warmth, wind, a clear blue sky, and both of us available. She makes "wearable art" including fascinators (in this photo, also called "goddess headdress"), dresses, obis, ponchos, bags, children's clothing, and other objects pieced together imaginatively from recycled materials. I think she is quite humbly unaware of her own radiance and presence, but I hope these photos will help her to recognize it.
It was a full, marvelous Monday. First coffee with Margie, then the photoshoot with Orquidia, and finally the symphony with Sue, and the brilliant guitar-playing of Pablo Villegas. Being retired is heaven. Tomorrow we head for Yachats, early spring on the Pacific coast. No wifi there, not even a cell phone signal, so I'll see you on the other side! We return March 24.
