The Challenge Continues
Today we cycled a section of the Meon Valley Railway in Hampshire. The end of the week has produced some very serious competition in the '111 day calorie burning challenge' i'm participating in, so I needed a day which would really boost my placing. I've been hard at it every day this week so I was quite exhausted before we started. This made the uphill muddy grind very hard work. The end result was worth it though, 2,143 calories burned over 14.5 miles! So I'm now firmly in 5th place again and hope that tomorrow I can get my desperately needed day of rest.
The Meon Valley Railway trail is a lovely trail, it does have a steady climb but the views make it worth it. There was a lovely bank of snowdrops by a stream, sunny clear views of the Meon Valley, a scenic mill at the river crossing and the towns of Wickham, Droxford and Meonstoke were all nice to see, but best of all had to be The Bakers Arms in Droxford. It's in the 2009 Good Pub Guide, and it rightly deserves it's award.
My Trek bike has been my best bud, it puts up with alot, and we will very soon have covered 600 miles together.
