Redding Sundial

As part of the glass bridge construction there is a gigantic sundial.  It looks to be about 5 stories high.  The suspension cables are connected to it.  The sundial only works during certain months of the year when the shadow falls within the proper area.  Some woman asked in all seriousness, how did it correct for Daylight Savings Time?
