Lanhydrock Gatehouse (widwed200319)

Today looked to be set for cool and grey so we drove to Lanhydrock House for a dose of history.  The house has an interesting story and although it is a grand Victorian house as we see it now, the family were quite enlightened in their thinking and treatment of their staff and I came to think I would have quite liked to meet them.

We had a tour of the gardens with one of the volunteers which was really very good and brought the story of the estate to life.  All of these great houses are a product of their history, the fashions of their times and their owners, this one is no exception.

The house does not really fit the bill for this week's wide Wednesday on the theme of derelict,  although it might well have after the fire of 1881!
