Bistro no jardim
This is the little bistro / cafe / taverna thing in the garden area in front of the co-working space. The lady who runs it is jolly and made a nice leaf design in the foam of my coffee. It is also a more secluded area to take calls when my booming voice is in too much danger of disturbing the shared workspace.
There isn’t a huge amount of joy in Mozambique this week as all eyes are on the recovery effort in the central region. Whilst resources are now being deployed by various organisations, more footage is emerging of people trapped on rooftops in newly formed lakes. The team that manages one of the protected areas that we are supporting finally made contact today six days after the cyclone. Communications were difficult anyway and their main lifeline was severed when the access bridge washed away.
I left the office late as I’m dealing with a large volume of work. The highlight of the day was La Isla Bonita on the taxi driver’s radio, which is a perfect song to be listening to when driving through deserted and darkened city streets, sultry warm air blowing through the window. I think Madge would have approved.
