An afternoon with Don
Inspired by the comments of other blippers I took myelf off on an expedition to the big smoke yesterday to visit the Don McCullin exhibition (extra). It was well worth it. Words are difficult to describe his amazing body of work. Technically brilliant, his war and non-war photography captures people and place place brilliantly. The expressions in faces are alive but the impact of death and violence is vivid too. Such impact over and over again. It both amazes and fascinates that he could embed himself so repeatedly in these situations. Powerful images.
After that I meandered without too much focus. I hoped to reminisce in Covent Garden but it is as McCullin would say, so over gentrified these days with designer shops and tat to entice the tourists. At least it supplied my main blip though it feels inadequate compared to the photographer of the day.
