FROG WINS HORSE RACE . . .

A Grand Mini-Blip Meet with Jankerman and Kit267 . . . at the 500TH running of the Kiplingcotes Derby. Blips show a selection from the event. From the field of 36 horses the Winner, a horse called Frog, was ridden by Tracey Corrigan. Second was Start Me Up, ridden by Jason Carver.

In 1619 . . . 49 local gentlemen subscribed £365 to ensure that  . . . The Kiplingcoates Plate was ridd yearly on the third Thursday in March . . .

So welcome to The Oldest Flat Race in the World. This race is so different . . .

There is no charge for spectators . . .

The winner receives the trophy and £50 . . . The runner up receives £4 from every horse that runs and so may gain more financial reward than the winner . . .

There is no racecourse as such, just a cross-country 4 mile race . . .

The position of clerk of the race has been in the same family for over five generations . . .
