Essex Bridge - Shugborough Hall
I met up with a fellow retiree today and we visited Shugborough Hall. This packhorse bridge over the River Trent, near Great Haywood, is just on the edge of the estate.
It was built by the Earl of Essex in the late 16th century.
We also had a wander around the private apartments of the late Lord Lichfield and famous photographer - Patrick Lichfield.
The rest of the house told the story of two of his ancestors, brothers Thomas and George Anson.
