Valley of the Moon.
We took a drive to see the Valley of the Moon and the Valley of Death! So called because hardly anything ever grows there. However it happens that the most rain for forty years fell in February and a few bits of scrubby vegetation have appeared. It is desolate and hot, and stunningly impressive.
We watched the sun set, casting coloured light over the Andes (extra), then came back and enjoyed a delicious dinner at La Casona in San Pedro.
An early start tomorrow for an excursion to see some flamingos!
Extra extra, old mining machinery at salt mines in Valley of the Moon.
