Rough Day
Hero had a rough day.
When the boys had their vaccinations in the end of January, I talked to the vet about Hero's testicles as they have always been 'funny' (very small and not producing semen). We decided that it is better to be safe than sorry, so it was decided that it would be best to have him castrated. So today he lost his bits and had a teeth clean. Poor little man.
But we did try to make it as easy for him as possible. He got the calming injection and then he got to sleep in his car for 15 mins. I took him to the operation room and stayed with him until he was asleep.
I then took Gollum and Biscuit out to do some Nose Work and 50 mins later I was back at the vets and was taken to Hero, so I could be there as soon as he opened his eyes.
He came home with me 45 mins later and got to wake up in his own bed in a puppy pen to keep Gollum and Biscuit away from him.
At about 3 pm, he was ready to come out of the puppy pen and at 5 pm he appeared to be starving and had his dinner.
He is now sleeping on the sofa next to me in his grey trousers, which he is wearing, so he can't get to the wound. - And they are essential at the moment as all he was thinking of, when I let him out for a wee, was to sit down and try to lick the wound!
He seems to be just fine. He was trotting beautifully, when he was outside earlier and he is very relaxed.
Keep your fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.
