Family history

D, Mum and I spent this afternoon looking at our family tree. I had been emailing a distant cousin about this photo and who the lady to the far left was. He responded very quickly telling me that she was the wife of my Great Grandfather‘s ( man on left) best friend who was a missionary in Malawi and died there from malaria. My GGF wrote this book about his friend after his death. When I told mum she remembered she had a copy and when we looked we found it had inscriptions inside it. All very exciting ! The ‘A Rankine’ mentioned was my grandfather Adam and he is the little boy in the back row :) The little girl was my Great Aunt Ara who became a missionary in India and spent her whole working life dedicated to improving the medical and obstetric care for women in the region she worked in......fascinating stuff.
