Running on the Dark Side
SATURDAY
I headed over the hills to Manchester to try out the Heaton Parkrun. A few weeks back, the event hosted over a thousand runners, but today numbers were down to a mere 789. I lost time by starting near the back of the herd and finished in 178 place with an official time of 24m 50s
Afterwards I headed over to the East Lancs Railway at Ramsbottom (see extra) and also Heywood (main blip).
The City of Wells locomotive was withdrawn from service by British Railways in 1964. It was restored by the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway where it operated until 1979. After a further overhaul it re-entered service in 2014.
I might be back at Ramsbottom in a couple of week's time for the annual chocolate festival
