Union Station
This rather magnificent edifice is the frontage to the main station in Washington. It was late in the day but the light was still strong casting fantastic shadows. Two girls were sitting on one side chatting and were potentially spoiling the perfect composition; I asked them very politely if they would mind moving for a minute or two, which they did - they were very understanding.
We had spent the day riding round on one of the tourist hop-on/hop-off buses as this is a good way to see a lot of a city and get a feel for what to then look at in detail. We did stop briefly at a few places, such as the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, but most we will return to over the next few days at a better time. I have added a creative extra of the Washington Monument which could appear rather ordinary otherwise.
The weather has been quite cold but bright and sunny with a strong blue sky.
