foraging..

...in the street and neighbour J's pink peppercorn tree (Schinus molle) is blooming with flowers and laden with fruit.
These are harvested and sold as pink peppercorns though they are not related to the commercial pepper (Piper nigrum), and often blended with commercial peppers.

Isn't it curious that I would buy these from the shop packed and cook with them but am a tad reluctant to forage and dry them!
