GOOLE SWING BRIDGE

This is the Goole Railway Swing Bridge . . . a viaducted hogback plate girder bridge . . . with swing.
Also known as the Skelton Viaduct or as Hook Bridge, it was built in 1869 for the Hull and Doncaster Branch of the North Eastern Railway. It spans the River Ouse, Yorkshire near to the port of Goole, and we missed a train crossing !
