St. Bernard Pass in Winter
The only way to get over the St. Bernard Pass from Switzerland to Italy, in the Winter, is on skis. My much younger, and still working, friends are on holiday for two weeks and so are taking the old lady out for mountain adventures. I am so lucky. Today we walked up the Swiss side in "Cairngorm conditions" with wind and snow (see extra), had the traditional soup and cheese lunch at the hospice (second extra) and came back out into sunshine as you can see here, looking down to the frozen lake on the Italian side. Another great day out.
