Eyes Wide Open
I blipped a Common Brown Butterfly ( Heteronympha merope) with its wings closed about 10 days ago. They are not easy to photograph as, when they are feeding, they land on a flower and snap those wings tight shut.
I have discovered that the only way to get an image wide open, as it were, you have to get them either early in the morning or much later in the afternoon.
This one was was sunning himself, soaking up the final rays of the sun before parking his tired little body and going to sleep.
This is the male of the species - the females come along a bit later in the season.
We're also starting to see a few more Monarchs around so, hopefully, I'll be able to blip one of those in the not too distant future.
