Drying the washing .

There are several photos in our communal laundry, largely ignored, unless one is waiting for a load to finish washing,as I was today.
This one was probably from somewhere like Aynstruther ( spelling is incorrect I know) .
I couldn't help thinking that the clothes might dry, but how much dirt would they collect from the wall?
(The white bar is due to the light which comes on automatically.)
