Sex and politics

This photo sums up Italian politics today. It reads "Now I'm ready to enter politics". This clothing advert in a local bus stop is most likely mocking Nicole Minetti (although there are other examples available). She was a dancer and dental hygenist who became a politician in the Berlusconi government with no previous experience. I've lived in Italy long enough now to believe any sordid theory about how she got the job.

The plus side about living out here is that it really puts English politics in perspective. I reckon we've got some of the cleanest politics going. I'm not saying the people themselves are any better - it's just that the way our political system is set up means there's less chances for people to become as corrupt as they are in Italy.
