Red Wing Blackbird

Mary Jo and I spent some time at Scudder's Pond today hoping to find a new and elusive duck rumored to be in the reeds, but no luck   There was an abundance of red wings though.  Mary Jo has a much larger lens than I do so I hope she got some good shots.  I also hope she recovers from carrying that big lens around.  It's very heavy and she's hurt herself doing it so now she's in pain.  True to form though, she won't quit.

Just as we were headed out of the park we both heard a suspicious noise in the brush behind us.  Looking back on the path all we saw was a dog and no sign of the owner who had been there moments before.  When we got back to where the dog was we found the man in the bushes.  He had fallen on his face, literally, and was all bloody.  The walking path has a lot of thorny bushes growing next to it.  Mary Jo and another walker on the path got him up and on his feet.  He insisted he was okay but we were very concerned about him.  He said he lived close by (he was driving) so we decided to follow him to make sure he got home safely but our efforts were thwarted by a bus which stopped in front of us and we couldn't get around it.  He said it wasn't the first time he had fallen and the had the scars to prove it.  He didn't want us to call an aid car and I think we both regretted that.  What do you do when somebody says they'll be fine?  He was very appreciative but looked as though he had been beaten up.  I hope he's okay.  Hopefully, we'll see him again in the park walking Willow and we can check on him.
