My topsy-turvy life

Out of surgery

A very early start this morning so that we could get up to Manchester for 7:30.
It was a new experience going up there for an actual routine appointment with Owen's surgeon. No real concerns, just a chance to have a look at his oesophagus and stretch it out again, dilatation #10, at the same. The first words out of Mr Wilkinson's mouth when he saw him were "Wow, he really has put on weight since I last saw him."

It was a much different experience for Owen this time around with him being so much more aware of what's going on. He did brilliantly leading up to going into surgery despite no food for nearly 7 hours, thankfully he was first on the list.
Coming out this time was different though, we could hear him crying as we walked into recovery. Obviously more aware of the hunger and pain and sounding a bit croaky, he had a bit of milk but then got upset here because it was uncomfortable and took lots of comforting and holding and walking to go off to sleep.

When he woke up again though he was like a different child, happy, chatty and smiling, he drank loads of milk and 2 and a half hours after coming out of surgery we were allowed to go home by 12:30!

Much better than the emergency admissions and next scheduled for another 3 months!
