Nea Paphos

The name given to the area covered by the Greek and later Roman occupants of the promontory on the coastline just south of present day Paphos. Now an archaeological park with World Heritage status.

There's a different feeling as soon as you enter the park from the outside melee of Chavopolis, as I like to call it. Bars and pubs close together with garish signs and a hubbub of noise. Inside, it's peaceful, gracious and spacious. Wild flowers, birds on the wing, of course, the restored remains of Roman villas and mosaics.

Cloudy, but it didn't rain. Lots of poppies and helianthus. This image shows the lighthouse beyond the Agora and the Odeon .

This evening we went to dinner at George and Lia's mansion in the hills. I was too late to catch the sunset.
