Loch Achray

Today's the day .............................. to be completely still

We've been coming here at this time of the year on and off for the best part of twenty years - and depending on what the weather is doing - it can seem like a completely different place.

It's been very, very cold with icicles everywhere and the loch completely frozen over. One year, it was so bad that we didn't make it up here at all. Other times it's been blowing a gale so ferocious that it brought down some of the trees - and then again, it's been unseasonly mild with a balmy breeze. Today, it was breathlessly still with no wind at all and the surface of Loch Achray just like a millpond.

When all's said and done - it's just good to be here - whatever the weather ........................
