Ancient and modern
Just up the road from us is a small flock of rare breed sheep.
I am not sure what they are called but suspect they owe more than a bit in their genetic makeup to the Soay sheep from the island of Soay in the St Kilda group.
Soay means “Sheep Island “in Norse which suggest that they have been sheep on the island since at least the time of the Vikings.
While on the subject of ancient I was somewhat disconcerted this afternoon when the guy in the computer shop in Stirling said my Apple laptop was vintage- seven years old – that’s why the official Apple dealers would not touch it.
He gave me three options: (1) buy a new one - £1,200, (2) get a second hand one £500 or replace the battery £ 195.
No prizes for guessing which one I chose.
