Yamanobe-no-Michi - part 1

Today I left the city and walked part of the Yamanobe-no-Michi trail which is part of Japan’s oldest road, the Shinkaido, originating in Tokyo. It is a pleasant trail in rural landscapes but passes many shrines, temples and ancient tombs. It is definitely not a tourist’s ’must’ but a good way to experience rural Japan. Today was the better known part of the trail and I had a map. Tomorrow, I will need to navigate without any map... it will be interesting!
