What a Day!!
Driving on the motorway, overtaking a lorry when there was a very loud 'pop' that frightened the living daylights out of me scared me, so of course I felt as if the car was listing and I luckily got a gap and pulled in (thankfully before the stupid roadworks for a 'smart motorway') - worries me what will happen once that is in place....
I did what any sensible person would do, climbed out the passenger side and stood away from the car against the barrier. Stupid barrier was too high for me to climb over - felt a right twit standing there....
Anyway, I called the AA at 7.45 and they said someone would be with me at 8.15....they didn't arrive til 8.25 by which time I was frozen solid and I couldn't talk or move very well....
Anyway, he examined my tyres and apparently they were OK... Then he went to start the car and had to jump start it as it wouldn't go!
After that he got me to drive very slowly down the hard shoulder, till we got to the coned off bit, then he pulled out behind me. We pulled off at the next junction and in the supermarket car park he fitted a new battery....
So what of the loudest 'pop' I've ever heard? He reckoned it was a passing lorry's tyre that had popped or even the one I was overtaking....
After all that I was so glad to get to work and have a coffee, but I've taken a very long time to warm up again today and as a result had a rubbish day at work....
I'm exhausted and so glad to be home tonight. Already in Pjs and waiting for my dinner to cook!
Happy Wednesday folks :)
