Nothing like being lit up in the morning....
It's been 4 or 5 years since I have been stopped by a cop on the side of the highway (been stopped many a times in weigh stations) and my first thought was what did I do... Of course before the officer got to the side of the truck, I shut the truck off, all the lights in the cab were turned on, windows rolled down, doors unlocked and my hands were at 10 and 2. One of the first things you learn is in a commercial vehicle you can be stopped for any reason at anytime... and it is always best to respect the officer as he / she is only doing their jobs...
There is a stretch of highway in Tacoma that has been under construction for 20 years plus now but in the last 3 months there has been 8 serious truck wrecks, all shutting the highway down for hours and most of them were speed related.. so they are stopping as many trucks as possible for paperwork checks and reminding drivers to "slow for the cone zone" Today was my turn to be one of those that were stopped.
As you can see my logbook, bill of lading, registration (truck / trailer), drivers license and medical card were all clear of violations.. Always nice to know that I am doing my job... and after calling the safety department letting them know I was given a Level 3 inspection and all was clear.. that they thanked me for doing my job too...
A little bit of all kinds of weather today...Headed to Portland in the morning.
