The Llandoger Trow
The building dates back to 1664, tradition says that Daniel Defoe met Alexander Selkirk here (inspiration for Robinson Crusoe) and that Robert Louis Stevenson based The Admiral Benbow in Treasure Island on this pub. I have no idea if any of this is true, perhaps they are other Bristol myths like: John Cabot discovered America and that Edward Colston was not a slave trader.
According to local press the pub will close this month, I have to admit that I have rarely frequented the establishment, the words 'Jacobean Wine Bar' do not appeal!
