glow

In our little town on the day after Thanksgiving, community members gather 'round the McMinnville Christmas tree as the holidays take their cue from its lighting. And then, illuminated in grandeur, it sparkles, sentinel for the season.

Tonight, having survived last night's wind storm, our tree waved gallantly as I passed despite the slushy rain and chill.

A month ago, this guy was happily doing tree things in the forest. And now here he is - city-fied. Dressed up in lavishness so unlike what he might choose for himself.

But, you gotta glow, you know? You gotta stand where you are and shine with all you've got. Let storms come. You're tethered; you're grounded. Just glow. There's nothing better to do.

People will draw near. You'll see. They'll draw near and smile. Just glow.
