Tree

A back blip from our holiday on the Isle of Mull in October last year. 

This was taken on the coastal road along Loch Scridain, a solitary tree set against an unusual sky as the sun dipped below the ridge.

This was taken during my 6 month Blipfoto sabbatical last year. Not only did I not blip any photographs in that time, but I hardly used the camera. There were a few times when we were on Mull when I couldn't resist using the camera, and this was one of them. But mostly in that 6 month period, I felt quite ambivalent about photography, a little jaded after many years when I hardly went anywhere without the camera. I did feel like I had run out of inspiration. For a while I didn't miss blipping either, I was exhausted with it, and needed time to concentrate on other things, this was the more keenly felt because I had been so unwell in 2017. My energy was recovering throughout 2018, and I wanted to conserve what I had and devote what there was to the things that I loved most - being outdoors immersed in the natural world.

As I write this, I have recovered a lot of my enthusiasm, albeit that I feel less driven to take a photograph every day. It has been lovely to rekindle blip friendships, and I do value the record of events and experiences, and the reference points that blipping provides in our lives. Blipping is an essential part of my life, and that feels like something very positive.
